Coaches
Head Coach, Sparring Coach
Hi, my names Shujahat, Suj for short. I am a 5th Dan black belt and have been training in Taekwondo for 20 years and teaching for 16 years. Throughout my time training in Taekwondo I have seen the changes in how sparring has drastically changed over the last decade with the advent of electronic scoring and the rules changed to make the game what it is today. I like to ensure students understand how the game is played based on the current rules and build on the individual strengths and iron out their weaknesses. I feel its important to build a strong, supportive team atmosphere where everyone can develop and have opportunity to challenge themselves during session or competitions. I looking forward to training with you soon.
Fundamentals Coach
Hi I'm Stephen! I am a 4th Dan that has been training in taekwondo since 2009. I am proud to have been a founding member of the University of East London's taekwondo club and coached for them previously once I graduated. My aim for my time at Kings is to create the same kind of atmosphere and environment that got me hooked in the first place. If you're going to sweat, bleed (maybe) and hit each other, then you may as well do it laughing, smiling and with people you come to consider as family. Plus you can look good doing it.... Like: Food

Hi everyone, I’m Bleona, going into my 3rd year as an International Development student. I joined the club as a complete beginner. I’ve been practising Taekwondo for almost a year now and currently hold a yellow belt. I’m still figuring out whether I’m a poomsae or sparring girlie!!! Outside of Taekwondo, I enjoy casual hikes and you’ll often hear that I’m always walking everywhere. Looking forward to a fantastic year ahead with the club!

Hi. I started taekwondo over two years ago after looking for a new challenge from my karate background and PhD program and have just got my 1st dan black belt. I have competed in both sparring and poomsae, and collected a few medals along the way. In the past I did both ITF and WT style but this year I will focus on WT only in . I am also a member of the BUTL National Squad and a squad poomsae captain along with Ori, and aim to compete internationally.
Media
Andro
2nd Year Culture, Media, and Creative Industries
I'm a third Dan black belt and have been doing Taekwondo for around 12 years at this point, back in both the Philippines and Hong Kong. I competed mainly in sparring and took a nearly two year break before starting up again at King’s. Across classes and competitions you will find me alternately fighting, coaching, and spamming my camera. As social media manager I hope to use our media platforms to let everyone, especially students, be in touch with what happens at the club.

Social Secretary
Raeesah
2nd Year Neuroscience & Psychology
Hi, I’m Raeesah! I’m currently a yellow belt with one year experience in taekwondo, and a couple more years in karate. Fun fact: I initially joined taekwondo because I couldn’t find the karate stall at freshers (which isn’t a great reason but I have absolutely no regrets). I spent the past year learning the basics and competing in poomsae, this time I aim to develop and work on my sparring too! Joining tkd definitely made my first year of uni extra special. I’ve made some amazing friends and memories both on and off the mat, and I can’t wait to make even more this year!
Social Secretary
Javariya
3rd Year Adult Nursing
Hi, I’m Javariya! I’m a yellow belt who just started TKD last year! I joined because of the welcoming and supporting environment the club creates. It’s become a place where I can unwind and have a good time with friends (winning a couple medals in poomsae felt pretty good too)! My aim for this coming year is to create a space where people can enjoy themselves, take a break from university and meet new friends! I look forward to meeting you all!
