Club Guidelines

Our club operates on a policy of creating a safe and inclusive environment at our trainings, competitions and socials for both our members and our coaches. To assist with this we have developed club guidelines which all members should follow. If you have any questions about the guidelines or ability to comply with them please discuss with the wellfare officer.

General Class Rules

Warm Up

All students must partake in a warmup prior to or as part of the class.

Injuries & Illness

Members are asked to inform session leaders of any conditions which may impact their ability to train, this includes injuries which may occur in the session.

Injuries which occur in sessions must be reported to coaches/captains for monitoring purposes. All sessions must have first aiders present.

If you have a concussion, or believe you may be suffering from one, you must consult with a healthcare professional to resume training in a controlled manner.

Respect

During trainings all members must treat each other and their session leads with respect. Comments should not be deliberately demeaning or make others uncomfortable. We operate a zero tolerance policy to bullying and harrasement.

Master Led Sessions

Our rules for master led sessions are additional to our general class rules. Please read these carefully.

Uniform

For master led sessions correct uniform must be worn. This is a WT standard dobok, it does not need to be club branded however we do encourage this!

For essentials and poomsae full dobok must be worn. Any tops worn underneath should be white in colour (or black for black belt holders). Please wear the correct belt tied neatly.

For sparring full dobok may be worn, or just dobok trousers and a sports top.

During gradings full dobok uniform must be worn, this should be a traditional white bottom uniform as opposed to a poomsae uniform.

Bowing

Bowing is an important aspect of showing respect in taekwondo. It is important to bow at the appropriate times.

When entering/exiting the matts or training room.

When handing equipment over to one another.
At the start and end of each class, towards the master.

Please be considerate of others religious & cultural views regarding bowing.

Lateness

Latecomers will not automatically be allowed to join a session, entrance will be at the coaches discretion if a member is more than 15 minutes late. This is to ensure the class flows well for all our members and as our classes feature exercises that build on from one another.

Members should endeavour to inform coaches if they are likely to be late.
If you are likely to be regularly late please discuss this with the coach.

If a class has begun and you have arrived late, you should wait at the edge of the matt for the instructor to acknowledge you and allow you to join.

If you have missed the class warm up, you should warm up by yourself before joining group activities.

Respect

All members should respect one another and the time/efforts of our coaches.

Masters should be addressed with their title, eg Master Hanna during coached activities and events.

Students should remain attentive whilst instructors are demonstrating or providing explanations.
